The Climate in South Africa is classified as humid subtropical but has a variety of climate types throughout the country. Near the capes in the northern regions it is a mediterranean climate. The annual temperature range is from 54 degrees F to 113 degrees F. The summer runs from November to March and the winter is from June to August. The highest precipitation occurs in Drakensberg mountain region which is located in Kwa Zulu Natal. The lowest rain fall occurs along the Northern Cape which is home to the Kalahari desert.
